Applications

THYPO can be used wherever electrical power needs to be controlled. Mainly where it is converted into thermal energy. Currently, the most important sectors for a power controller are plastics processing, photovoltaics and industrial furnace construction. However, they are also used successfully in the glass industry, the packaging industry, in wood and surface treatment, in paper production and also in semiconductors and in the printing and textile sectors, i.e. whenever the power consumption of electrical consumers needs to be precisely controlled, THYPO power controllers are used.

Two application variants

The THYPO power controller can be

  • connected to a higher-level PLC or a higher-level process control system
  • directly integrated into the flexoTEMP temperature control system.

The connection in PLC operating mode is made via the CI communication module, in flexoTEMP operating mode via the HM bus coupler. In addition to the bus connection to the higher-level system, they are also the feed-in point for the supply voltage of all power controller modules connected to them. a maximum of 8 power controller modules can be connected to a head module. If more than 8 power controller modules are required, the system must be supplemented with additional head modules. In the case of the PLC operating mode, these are the power supply modules EI, in the flexoTEMP operating mode the bus couplers HM.

THYPO on a PLC

In this setup, the THYPO system is connected via the CI communication module. In addition to the bus connection via one of the available interfaces (e.g. Profinet IO) to the higher-level system, it is also the supply point for the supply voltage of all power controller modules connected to it. 8 power controller modules TP can be connected to a communication module CI. If more than 8 power controller modules are required, the system can be supplemented via the EI power supply module. For this purpose, the network of the CAN system bus is extended linearly and the supply voltage of the other power controller modules is also connected to the EI.

THYPO on a flexoTEMP control system

As an alternative to controlling the THYPO system via a PLC/control system, integration as a power controller in the flexoTEMP multi-zone control system with all variants of the PCU temperature controller is possible.For this purpose, the TP power controller modules are connected to the system bus of the flexoTEMP system via the CAN open connection provided in the HM modules.In addition to the bus connection, the HM module is also the feed point for the supply voltage of all power controller modules connected to it. In principle, a maximum of 8 power controller modules TP can be connected to a bus coupler HM.If more than 8 power controller modules TP are required in the system, the system can be supplemented with additional bus couplers HM.If more than two bus couplers HM are used, a separate branch of the CAN system bus must be provided for each bus coupler HM.
